Much Needed Update

Before I entered my last year in law school, I kept up with our blog fairly regularly. However, once that last year started, I stopped writing on it. Well, several months ago, I started a new blog...a fresh start...but then the bar review started and well, I obviously was preoccupied with studying for the bar exam. But now, I am finished with everything, and since so much has happened and is in the process of happening in our lives, I think it's time to finally catch up!

To being you all up to speed...I graduated from law school in May and immediately started studying for the bar exam. That horrible 2-day test was July 30th and 31st. Since July 31st is our anniversary, my wonderful husband gave me my gift before I left for the second half of the exam. I had been wanting diamond studs and he searched 5 different jewelry stores and even enlisted the help of one of his baseball player's dad, who used to be the district manager of a jewelry store chain. He told me that he wanted to give me a good luck present, so I wore them to the exam. Obviously the worked like a charm, since I found out on October 10th that I passed the Tennessee bar exam!

When we found out, Paul and I were in Phoenix visiting some friends for the weekend and winding down from a 6-day trip to Rocky Point, Mexico. Since we were not able to go on a vacation during the summer, we took an extra-long vacation during Paul's fall break. Paul and I were the only ones at our friends' house, as they were both at work. The results were to be posted at 12 noon on the law examiners' website, but much to my nerves' dismay, it was not up until 12:35! I believe that I sort of blacked out from the time I got out of bed (6:45 am, Phoenix time) until the time the "successful list" was posted. Paul says that I paced in circles around the house, stopping only to refresh the page the list was to be posted. Anyway, once I saw that I passed, I started crying and after hugging Paul for a long time, we started calling our family and friends to share the news! Now, a month later, I am in full swing as an attorney in Columbia, TN. I concentrate mainly on real estate, corporate, and estate law. Tomorrow, I will be sworn in by the Tennessee Supreme Court and then it will all be official!

Paul is anxiously waiting for baseball season to come. This season will definitely be tough, but I have a feeling that his players will exhibit a great amount of strength. A couple of weeks before Paul and I left for our vacation, one of Paul's seniors passed away. It's the worst news any person can ever expect, especially when it's a 17-year old kid. Kris was definitely a leader not only for the baseball team, but also for the entire school. He was an amazing baseball player with so much potential. Kris was also the kind of son that most parents dream of. It was so amazing to see how much of an impact one person could make in his community in such a short time. Although we don't know why this tragedy happened, we know that it's all part of God's plan. A friend of Kris's mother created a website in his memory and even if you did not know him, the website is so touching. The Lamm's Blog Take 2

Hello all! Welcome to the Lamm Family blog. Let me begin by introducing our little family to you...I am Nicole and my wonderful husband is Paul. Together we are the Lamm family. Hopefully, sometime in the near future we will be able to introduce more to our family, but for now, it's just us. On July 31, 2008, we will be married for 4 years and we still act like newlyweds. Paul and I are truly best friends, as we were best friends before we even began dating (the second time around!). We live on the Columbia/ Spring Hill, Tennessee line. Our house is actually located in Columbia, but we prefer to say we live in Spring Hill (hey - Spring Hill just got a Super Target). Paul is a baseball coach who teaches (seriously, that's what he says is job is!). He is the head baseball coach at Spring Hill High School and absolutely loves his job. Baseball is his greatest passion, well, except for me, of course! It's so much fun to see him doing something that he absolutely loves, even if it occassionally stresses him out! I am finishing up my last few weeks in law school. I can't believe that it's finally at the end. My final hurdle will be passing the bar exam in July. Aside from going to law school (at night), I am the general manager of a title company in Columbia, and I also do some legal work for the attorneys who own the title company. I love working in real estate law and now know that's what I want to practice. I have already accepted a position at the firm I work for and they are more than willing to let me take full reign of the real estate area once I am a licensed attorney!

Previously, I started a blog to as sort of my online journal, but then I lapsed in keeping up with it. Working full-time and going to school full-time will really hamper doing anything extra, liking "blogging." However, I am going to try this all over again and with (lots of) luck, I will be able to keep up with it better than in the past. Therefore, I have started fresh, with a new blog site.
